- Open the "FreePPP Setup" program; it will open a
dialog box that looks something like...

- Click on the triangle in the lower left of the
dialog box; the dialog box will get larger and reveal more controls.
Click on the "Location" tab on the right so that the
dialog box looks like...

- This dialog box is where you describe the places you call from. If
you see a location named "Home" in the scroll box,
select it and click on the "Edit..." button;
otherwise, click on the "New..." button. A new dialog
box will appear that looks like...

- Fill in the dialog box with information about your phone service.
The choice of names is only important if you call from multiple
locations, but it is helpful to give it a meaningful name anyway.
- Enter your area code.
- Enter your long distance prefix (this is usually
"1"; more generally it is what you dial before you dial the area code of
a long distance number).
- If you have call waiting and want to disable it
while calling with your modem, enter your dialing prefix as
*70, (asterisk seven zero comma), otherwise, leave the dialing
prefix blank. If this does not disable your call waiting, you will have
to inquire with the provider of your local telephone service.
- Click the "OK" button to go back to the main dialog
box. Click on the "Accounts" tab so that the dialog box
looks like...

- click the "New..." button. A new dialog
box will appear that looks like...

- Click on the "Account" tab.
- For the server name, enter "Bee Net".
- For the phone number, enter the local access number
which you wish to use to connect to Bee.Net.
- Select "Directly" from the Connect pop up menu.
- Enter your User name (login name) and
Password in the appropriate blanks.
- Click on the "Connection" tab. The dialog
box should look like...

speed of your modem. (For a 14.4 modem, you would select 57600.)

- Leave the Modem init string blank.
- Click on the "Options" tab. The dialog
box should look like...

server".

box. Click on the "General" tab so that the dialog box
looks like...

- Uncheck all the check boxes in this dialog box.
(Some people may find it useful to check the Disconnect if
idle box as it prevents tying up the phone line when it isn't
being used.)
- Click the "Modem Setup..." button. A dialog
box will appear that looks like...

- Select the port where your
modem is connected from the Connected to pop up menu.
- Select whether you want to dial with tones or pulses with the
Dial Type buttons. (You must have touch tone service to
dial with tones.)
