Macintosh Configuration for MAC OS 7.X
In order to connect to the Internet with a
Macintosh, you will need to install and configure either MacTCP or Open Transport
(TCP/IP), and MacPPP. If you have used another ISP previously, there is a good
chance you already have the software listed below. In that case, it is just a simple
matter of following the instructions to reconfigure your software.MacTCPTo install MacTCP, copy the MacTCP control panel to the Control Panels folder in your System Folder. Restart your Mac. When the Mac comes back up, open the MacTCP control panel from the Control Panels folder and ensure the PPP icon is selected. Then click the more button and the bottom of the screen and ensure the following:
Open Transport (TCP/IP)If you have MacOS 7.5.3, you probably have Open Transport. Open the Control Panels folder and select TCPIP. Then ensure the following fields have these values:
MacPPPMacPPP is composed of two components, ConfigPPP and PPP. Install ConfigPPP in the Control Panels Folder and PPP in the Extension Folder. After installing these files in the proper folders, restart your Macintosh. Once your Mac has restarted, go to your Control Panel and select ConfigPPP. A window will appear with several options. Ensure the following:
Then, under the PPP server field, click New, and create a new PPP server called bee.net. After creating this server, click the configure button and ensure the following entries:
After completing these fields, click the Connect Script Button and ensure there are no values. Bee.Net doesn't use this feature. Next, click the LCP Options Button and select default settings. Find the line item called Authentication (PAP) and checkmark the Want and Will boxes under the Remote Column. Then click OK. Then, click the Authentication Button. Enter your username in the Auth ID field and your password in the password field. Select OK, and then Click Done.
