Creating and maintaining your web site on Bee.Net's server.

All personal accounts include space, usually 10 MB, on Bee.Net's web server for a personal web site.  Web site directories are established on a per request basis. You can request your web site be setup at anytime by contacting support via email.

When your web site directory is setup, a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) a.k.a web address will be assigned as follows:

http://www.bee.net/username

where .../username is your username.  This will be your homepage location and is what you should type in your web browser to view your personal site.

Here are a few tips to help you get started:

1. Your home page should be named index.htm.  Naming your home page index.htm will allow users to type the URL noted above, and be placed directly onto your home page. Your website should contain a index.htm file.  Without one will make your website inaccessible unless users know exact file names.

2. You may use any ftp program to move your web site pages from your personal computer to your directory on Bee.Net. One of the more popular ftp clients for Windows is CuteFTP (available from http://cws.internet.com ). For Macintosh we recommend Anarchie

Netscape
Netscape Navigator Gold and Netscape Composer can be used for creating and editing web pages. See http://www.bee.net/Support/websites/index.htm for related help documents.

Microsoft FrontPage
Microsoft FrontPage customers must use FrontPage Explorer (or other Microsoft tools which allow editing of remote FrontPage sites) to create and modify their web sites. *Personal FrontPage web sites are available to dial up customers for an additional $5.00 per month.

3. Configure the ftp connection to include your username and password, the destination directory (the name of your directory, including the / before and after the name), and the server name (host) of bee.net (or other server name if indicated at the time you set up your account). You will be able to create subdirectories, add files, and delete files.

4. You or your designated webmaster are responsible for the creation and maintenance of your web site. Bee.Net has web site engineers available to assist you on a fee for service basis. Rates range from $30 to $125 per hour.

NOTE: Commercial web sites in personal account directories are subject to commercial rates. Please send an e-mail to Bee.Net customer service if you would like to discuss your plans.
